Passion flowers (passiflora incarnata) are beautiful to look at, they are also wonderful for making a relaxing stress reducing tea. Passion flowers are native to the southeastern United States, and Central and South America. The plant has climbing vines and flowers that come in shades of purple, lavender, and reds.
The tea can be used to treat insomnia, anxiety, adjustment disorder, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, pain, fibromyalgia, reduces anxiety and nervousness
Do not take taken more than 3.5 grams of a specific extract (Sedacalm by Bioplus Healthcare) over a 2-day period. Do not give to children, nursing or pregnant mothers.
Passionflower is a natural sedative and can cause sleepiness and drowsiness. Do not Passion flowers with sedative medications as this may cause too much sleepiness.
Method of preparation
1 tablespoon of dried passion flower in a cup of boiling water. Allow to Steep for 8-10 min. You can add sweeteners if you like. I recommend either local raw honey or raw sugar instead of white sugar. You can also add a squeeze of fresh lemon. Then set back and relax.
